Abeja Ancestral / Ancestral Bee

Esta tabla de VICIO, Addikt y Frida Larios, es la primera colaboración que teje dos lugares: Washington, DC y El Salvador. DC es la sede de VICIO, cuyos creadores Salvis, Roberto Mejía y Dixon Marín, comienzan su trayectoria graficando tablas en 2015. El Salvador es la sede de @Addikt_es: una tienda fundada en 2001 por skaters para skaters. El Salvador, además, es la raíz ancestral de los fundadores de @VICIOskatebords y de la artista Indígena @FridaLarios.

Larios explica la cosmovisión de #AbejaAncestral: "La tabla en su posición vertical ilustra una estela con tres pictoglifos mayences. La Abeja en el cenit de la tabla vuela al igual que una o un skater, y es una vasija boca arriba que vierte su miel hacia abajo. La miel se convierte en el fuego del Volcán en Erupción que arroja su lava ancestral con la fuerza del interior de la Nana tierra. El nivel más bajo de la tabla o estela representa el inframundo, donde se arraigan los pies de una o un skater, y hogar donde reposan los huesos de nuestros ancestros, que sostienen nuestra identidad".

This deck by Addikt & VICIO with Frida Larios, is the first collaboration that weaves two places: Washington, DC and El Salvador.  DC is the headquarters of VICIO, whose creators, Roberto Mejía and Dixon Marín, began their career crafting boards in 2015. El Salvador is the headquarters of @Addikt_es: a store founded since 2001 by skaters for skaters.  El Salvador is also the ancestral root of the founders of @VICIOskatebords and Indigenous artist @FridaLarios, all first generation immigrants.

Larios explains the cosmovision of #AbejaAncestral art in this way: "Standing vertically, the deck illustrates a stela (stone slab) with three Mayan pictoglyphs. The Bee at the zenith of the table flies like a skater, and it is an upturned vessel that pours its honey downwards. The honey becomes the fire of the Erupting Volcano throwing its ancestral lava with the force of the interior of Mother Earth. The lowest level of the stela deck represents the underworld, where a skater's feet take root, the home where the bones of our ancestors rest, which sustain our identity".
